It's been a long while since we posted an update here. A lot has happened since then — and it's all good news!
The backend of Scantry is about 90% complete. The application is capable of scanning the barcodes of 3.8 million different food items and storing them in your inventory, with notes on quantity and expiration date. This is huge!
I had originally planned this out to be an iOS-only app, but I've built the backend in such a way that it can be used by any platform. This means I'll probably come around and build an Android app some day too — the foundation is already there.
The iOS app is my priority now. This is a whole different type of development than the backend work, and it's taking some time to ramp up on — but it's working, and it's working well. I'm adding new features to the test application each day and trying them out in my own kitchen. It's admittedly quite fun!
We're still targeting a Q4 2026 launch. If you haven't already, join the waitlist and I'll reach out the moment early access opens.
As always, a huge thanks to my friends and family for the support as I continue to build this crazy idea into a real thing. I'm so excited to bring this to the world.
